i spent the long weekend in boston inflicting damage on my liver and hitting on college girls. needless to say...good times.
i can't get a good read on boston. on the one hand, it's better than philadelphia. but then again, it's certainly not new york. i've come to the conclusion that it is really just a larger version of hoboken--i always have fun when i go there, but i couldn't ever imagine actually living there.
i'm struck by the complete and utter lack of IJC's anywhere in hoboken north. is every girl in boston either an irish catholic from NJ that went to BC or else a preptonian that boarded at choate and then smoked week for four years at middlebury? coming from ijc headquarters on third avenue this is a shock to my system, but a definite breath of fresh air to say the least.
saturday night at my new favorite bar my buddy introduced me to some girls he knew and told them that i was from new york. one of the girls, the cutest one of the bunch--little and blonde and wearing some sort of ironic t-shirt--told me that she was moving to NYC this week. she asked where i lived and then told me that she and her husband were moving into the anthem in murray hill. i couldn't make this stuff up if i tried.
without a doubt i will be seeing them at 515 or noodles on 28 any day now.
i just can't escape.
Hoboken doesn't have a championship baseball team??!?!?!

I hear that championship baseball team plays very close to the Derek Jeter Center. Amusing.

Does your shrink know about this webpage?
You do know in life, you have choices, right? You aren't doomed to a life of materialism and overpriced drinks in Murray Hill until you die....take it from someone who was raised in Long Island and has happily avoided that scene since he graduated college....leave...it'll save you tons of money on therapy, I swear.

IJC - I grew up in Boston and now live in Murray Hillel. First of all, you nailed Boston. Even though I am from there, I can't figure it out either. You are either in college or post 30 yrs old. You gotta love the simplicy. You went to beantown, down to Clery's, talked to BC chicks - they didn't complain about scooping their bagles and how much better it is for you to drink club soda rather than tonic w/ their kettle one and they were probably all blonde w/ sick bodies b/c they run near the Charles River everyday. I'll take NYC though b/c there is nothing like laughing uncontrollably in the face of some IJC doing their walk of shame back to Windsor Court - and this is after you listened to none of what they were saying about how they hate their advertising job etc. . .
